Foodie Baby: Hummus on Whole Wheat

Yesterday for lunch I decided to make Piper a very basic hummus to see if chickpeas were her thing.  The recipe is below, but I had to capture the priceless sequence of faces as she discovered this new and healthy food.

At first she was inquisitive:

Oh this is just awful.

How do you people eat this stuff?! Oh...god....(gag)

Mom, I will try this for you one more time and that's IT. I mean it...

Here goes...

HEEEYYYYY! THAT'S NOT SO BAD!

Well, I ended up eating the whole tortilla with hummus. Does that mean I like it?

 ~Ingredients~

1 can of garbanzo beans
1 tsp. minced garlic
3 Tbsp. olive oil
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
salt and pepper to taste

~Instructions~

Puree all ingredients in a food processor until nice and smooth.

Spread over half of a whole wheat tortilla, sprinkle some more pepper on top, and cover with the other half of the tortilla. Serve to your infant and let the faces begin!

  2. I know it would have made it tastier (and it's really how you're SUPPOSED to make it), but I didn't have anything but olive oil in the pantry. :-( I just made do with what I had at the moment. Blah.
